Dear Leslie,

I want you to know how much I appreciate the advice you gave me about bending over to pick things up. Since I have been using your technique I find I have no more pain or aches in my glutes or hips. Thanks!!!
— Gwenn

“My private sessions with Leslie helped me stay in tune with my body and in shape while I couldn’t dance. She also helped me learn how to use my body in ways that have been helpful rather than hurtful. Because Leslie comes from a dance background her insight into my needs, as a dancer was a huge bonus. I find now that I’m a stronger dancer than I ever was before.”
Jacquie

Believe it or not: Summer IS coming soon,
and that's why ISLAND PILATES CENTER is offering our annual summer mat class special -- 10 classes for $100.

This special rate is our way of saying thanks to all our regular attendees who commit to series classes all year round and keep the classes up and running. If you plan on sticking around this summer, you’ll want to do the twice weekly super special rate of $160 for the entire summer. So, keep those summer-exposed abs, arms and thighs toned -- even if they’re still covered in polar fleece right now! We’ll see you in class.

Class schedule: June 23rd - August 28th - 10 weeks
   Tuesday/Thursday - 7:45 a.m. intermediate/advanced
   Thursday - 9:00 a.m. - beginning/intermediate
   Monday/Wednesday - 6:30 p.m. beginning/intermediate

We welcome your input re: class times and days, so please let us know your preferences. Nicole and Leslie will occasionally share schedules to enhance your workouts!

FAQ of the month:

Q: How does Pilates affect you in your life when you're not working (teaching)?

A: It is a way of life. There's a point where Pilates becomes you and you become Pilates. This is what Joe was asking. All those exercises are exaggerations of what you do in your life, out of the studio. So you learn to use your body correctly - when you get in and out of the car, when you get up to get a beer - this was Joe's goal. Some people reach that point, some never do. But it affects everyone in some way. It controls stress levels, helps you sleep, helps you think.
